Post by mgbv8 »

Holy Cow!!!

Today the MGB ran a 9.96 @ 136mph and then I backed it up with another 9.96 @ 136mph...

Thanks Guys!
They were both no drama's runs. The only clue I had was the rev counter as I crossed the line. It was showing 500rpm more than usual, so I thought I was going to have a better mph or that the gearbox was slipping.

Thankfully, it wasnt the gearbox :)

60 foot times have dropped back inot the 1.6's which is slower than usual but the steady launch and the extra revs this engine likes to pull seem to have done the trick :)

RETRO SHOW next weekend.... !!

HMM!!!
I think that might be a big ask for the old Girl ??
Next goal is a 9.8 second pass, hopefully at Retro next Sunday.

I only need 7/100th's of a second to have a 9.89 timing ticket?

Brilliant stuff, what overdrive and any gas? At long last the nines, hoping we can find a tenth at Dragstalgia, 9.13 best now so we want an 8 second ticket, hopefully the pod can deliver that little bit more.

Congrats mate

Thanks Alan.
Not over driving the blower at all, but a 150 of gas added quite gently.

I'll be at Dragstalgia Saturday to run the car and to see Jayne Kay (pink lady) as her Dad owes me some bits.

We must find each other at Dragstalgia for a chinwag ?

Apologies for being a bit late to the game - Congrats Perry must be a nice reward for all that effort to get that goal achieved - Full of admiration on the perseverance.

The car also sounds as good as it looks and goes.

Thanks mate!

I'm hoping that over the next few months I can hit regular 9.8's to be honest, but I'll be happy to stay at 9.9's really.

I want to have some fun for the rest of the season so I can do more mods over the winter. Fibre glass doors and tailgate along with lexan windows to see if I can shave some pounds off the car.

And an engine mod I've been wanting to do for years??
Fit 2" zoomies so I can have 4 pipes coming out of the bonnet either side of the blower :)

I'll have to fit the lambda sensors in 7 & 8 I guess. I'll fit them at the top of each zoomie. But I dont know if they will get too hot? only one way to find out eh ;) I will of course chop up another spare bonnet to fit !

And also to get rid of the ugly carb adaptor which fits the dominator to the blower plate. I think I'll cut the top off the adaptor and weld it to the blower plate so i can then mill it out full bore. This means I need to find a nitrous plate to fit a dominator as well.

We are going to do some more gentle test runs on Saturday with less nitrous while I tinker with ign timing. My Son will run the car while I'm playing with Mikes Slinghot on Saturday to see if we can get him down the track again but faster this time.

Then on Sunday I'm going to see if a 9.8 will come??

As if it wasn't difficult enough to see the lights and where you're going - They get my vote  8)

Enjoy the playing - I will be here in Shropshire turning a nice shade of envious green....

Been told my ticket is booked already so I should be running around, looking forward to meeting Mike again and your good self for the first time. Not to mention hoping to see a few old faces from my murky past
This kind of meeting should be all about meeting friends old and new.
