MGB V8 new time!

Post by mgbv8 »

Today I bagged a 18th mile trap of 6.90 @ 101.45

0-60 on the Wallace calc thing now shows 2.41 seconds :)

Time to give the old girl a rest now I think... More work needed for next year!.

No Ian!
My suspension mods seemed to have paid off. The front left wheel just got about 1" of air. So the car is launching pretty straight.

But the slo mo video's do show that I need to do some more stiffening on the rear I think. I'll stick them on You tube later.

Sorry Pel but that Wallace calc doesnt sit right with me.

Cracking time and speed for the 1/8th tho. How does the gearing stack up for the top end terminal? You running out of revs?

Not running out of revs Del. Just running out of power. Crossing the line at 131 around the 5100-5200 rpm mark. Way above my peak torque.

A sniff if gas will sort that out I think :)

I use the wallace thing as a reference mate. So I have the same algorithm applied each time i input the data. I also only ever use the same dyno for a similar reason. It may not be spot on, but I figure any error will be consistant and therefore any increase or decrease in perfomance will still show up?

Update from Fathers Day at the Pod.
New PB 1/8th mile data was 6.54 seconds to 108.99 mph.

Wallace estimates 0-60 @ 1.98 seconds

60 foot time was still below par at 1.56 seconds though ?

From datalogs, 0-60mph on mine would be around 2.4s ( At Santa Pod...not a chance anywhere else lol )

That's on a 6.41 at 113.8mph 1/8th, 1.55 60ft.

I'd say given you're lighter than mine and auto, a sub 1.5s 60ft should be very doable
Plus I think you're tyres look wider ? I was on 10.5" ET Streets for that one.

So I think a sub 2s 0-60mph is a bit on the optimistic side. I think you'd need to be pulling 120-125mph in the 1/8th to be closer to that, although hard to say I guess.

Mine weighs in at 1200kg Stevie.
I shift the auto at full pedal.
Rear tyres are 9" wide.
My 60 foot time should come back down to the 1.4's when i hit the gas off the line.

As I've said before. I just use this as I do the same dyno all the time to log changes. The real juice is in the ET's on track eh :)
