3.5 rover v8 head bolt

Post by paulmanta »

Hi,

I have an early 14 bolt per head 3.5 I am rebuilding and I need one medium head bolt.

It's got a 5/8 head, it's 3 inches long and the washer is separate. Letters G, K and N on the head.

Somehow I am one short! Care was taken and it was all put in a safe place but life had other plans.

I do however have an extra short bolt. So I'm wondering if someone put it together wrong a long time ago.

Has anyone got a suitable bolt they could send me? Happy to pay.

Thanks.

Paul

Hi Chris, if you have you will be a great help, I'm stuck on this now and I still have a few other little gremlins to iron out but I need this head on and torqued down.

I am convinced that this had the short bolt in it when I stripped the engine down to freshen it up.

How the threads were OK I have no idea, especially since it had to be in one of the higher torque locations but it all checks out.

My guess is that it was a mistake in the head bolt set the previous owner used and he didn't notice.

Mind you when I went through the timing of the cam I found that that was out too, it's an aftermarket cam and original gear set. I put an adjustable cam wheel in and now it's where it should be.

Keep In touch, I will pm you my number.
Paul

Are these bolts ok to reuse or should new ones be fitted?

The BL manual says to check them for stretch against a new one. If the same, OK to re-use.
