hi guys , thought id finally add my build of my mini van and all through the v8 conversion i did last year.

its running a 3.9 range rover v8, port and polished stage 3 heads, tubluars, 500 edddy carb. on a lt77 gear box. specialy made prop. and mgb gt rear axle with a quaifee in it.
the car has had a triumph herald front end and chassis put in it and mounted to all the original mini points.
been built for drag racing and eventualy road use. had a few fun items fitted like flame kits strobe lights.
also has hoosier 15inch drag radials running 20psi. wen i take them lower seems to loose time on the track.
been santa pod many times now having issues with fuel etc but slowly working them out and so far the mini has ran a 13.3 quater mile.

Ha Ha!!
You found us then mate !!!

Did the lash up on the fuel pump hold out for long? I stopped on the way out and went to the topof the banking as I knew Paul (yellow bimmer V8) and you were close to the front. She made it all the way to the finish line that time with a 13. Just curious to see how the pump works when you get a repair kit for it. I'm still thinking that the internal regulator may be sticking. And you deffo have a problem with the right hand side of that carb.

All simple stuff which can be sorted without too much hassle I'm sure.

I didnt come back on Sunday. I took the engine and box out of the MGB instead. I was fed up with having to be happy with 13.9 or 14 seconds in a car with not eniough cylinders and front wheel drive :(

Catch up soon

regards
Perry

hey there perry.

yes the guy we bought the pump off happend to be down on sunday and had 2 of the fins on him haha. we got the pump to work tempoary got a 13.3 best of the weekend.

but i have been lookin into the edelbrock pumps and found there common for loosing pressure when the car warms up, so im going to buy a red top facet adjust the timing to 10 instead of 4 and peak up to 32 ish over the next few weeks. got the right hand bank of the carb to work with the screw now aswell.
few little kinks to sort then back down for bonfire night due and the rwyb on the sunday and see if it sorts it out.

so fingers crossed lol

cheers mick

Thats a strange one Mick??
My Eddy pump is in the boot. Yours is underneath and not really exposed to any real heat?
I run my pump flat out into a dead head regulator and its been fine. At least you got the fins sorted :)

I'm down for the Flame and Thunder gig. I'll see if I can pop over for the last RWYB as its only 30 mins for me. I'll bring some tuning gear if you want to do some testing ;)

Regards
Perry

MGB wont be running until Xmas on the dyno :(
Can you post up your best timing slip data so we can look at whats going on with the car after it leaves the line.

rest of tickets ran out in diferent spots on the track since fitting the edelbrock pump times has got worse and worse now fitting a new pump and getting it to say 5.5psi at the carb.

Hi Mick
I would leave it all as it is until you get a line lock fitted so you can get those tyres properly warmed up before a run.

Your 60 foot time of 1.9 seconds will be more like 1.7 or better with more grip off the line.

Once you have the launch nailed we can look at whats going on at the top end regarding best gear required for crossing the line. And dont forget to get it on a dyno so we have more info on the power curves.

You have 3-4 months to tinker with this now before we get back out for serious testing next year mate :)

Then it may be a case of adding a small puff of gas for 4th gear ??

See you soon
Pel

looking at that chart I would be shifting gears at 3600rpm and see how she pulls.

Catch up soon mate.
