Bonnet Vents

Post by gelmonkey »

Hi All
Muscle Manta asked if a couple of reverse bonnet vents could be made for him out of glass.
These are just to vent some of the under bonnet heat out.
I thought you might like to see just how quick and simple this can be done.

First we cut some squares of PU foam to roughly the right size.

Next they are hot glued together to make a block

I then stuck them together and final shaped

Then once that was done the blocks were split apart glued again slightly apart and then glassed up

They need to cure and fully shrink now before gelling but this process so far has taken less than an hour.

I have some smaller vents here that I made for Muscle Manta but they are just a little too small for his car so if anyone wants them free of charge then please pm me and I will get your address and send them on to you.

cheers
Paul

Not the same as above I realise, but Mk 2 Astra bonnet 'duct' type vents can be used to good effect.

Hi Trev
Yes you are quite right the Astra ducts would do the same job.
With Muscle Manta's car we have had to work to the exact shape of the louvers in the back of his bonnet so that our vents will fit in.
His needed to be deeper than what I had already made for him which is why I am going throught this again now.
Cheers
P
