Well the mounting bracket is now done except for the polishing which I'll try to get done next weekend.

The number one driver for the design has been the almost infinite variation of Rover/Buick setups, therefore setting the pulley alignment is done mainly with the three mounting tubes at the rear. These can be made to any length.

Next up is the belt length, again there's so many variations I decided to give the idler pully a total of six predefined mounting positions. In fact just by drilling and tapping a 3/8 UNC hole the idler could be mounted anywhere that it will fit. It's even possible to fit two idlers if needed.

Last night I modelled the whole thing in Fusion 360 so if there's a next time I can use the CNC router rather than the mill.

The pictures below are obviously without any of the other ancillaries or a belt tensioner.

Install on the car should be in the next 3-4 weeks so once its been on the dyno we'll come back with the results.

I would drop that idler a bit to allow room for a good strong spring tensioner on the top side....and the belt will stretch and move quite a bit in use.

How are you driving the alternator and water pump?

Tom.

A couple of little hiccups we are having with the car at the moment lol,
won't idle correctly and we think we have pin pointed it down to a faulty TPS sensor,
And good ole rover no longer make the tps
So
Have a 4.6 plenum on its way to see if we can just bolt that on and use the later type tps and hopefully breather hoses etc etc are all in the same place as the hotwire plenum,
IF not the next option is to remove the throttle spindle from the 4.6 plenum and fit it to the plenum currently on the car that has all the hoses etc set up on it for the car and retro fit the later tps to that plenum,
watch this space .... :rofl

Which TPS were you using originally? The large round black one as fitted to he flapper injection has been re-made, for a Jaguar specialist.

The 4.6 plenum has a different IAC valve arrangement, I think better/neater as there are no hoses.
I'm using this with megasquirt, its a 4 wire.

I've fitted a Bosch PWM idle valve to my SD1. Fits in place of the over-run valve, which isn't needed with MegaSquirt. Had to make an adaptor plate. Works better than the hotwire stepper motor one I was using before.

4.6 plenum modified for front entry, using the later stepper motor. On the left hand side, just up from the hose clamp screw, the small black cylinder. That's the IAC valve, no hoses required.

And this is the 4.6 plenum before mods
Top hole is TPS
Bottom hole is IAC
