Some tinkering while i wait for my engine !!

I was given a midi moto bike with no engine. I already had a 45cc scooter. Kiwicar had an idea......... Damn him! I let him get into my head again :)

Now we both have a new creation in the workshop??

Something fun to tool around on and also something to tow the slinghot and now something to do the above + carry the starter pack for the slingshot and possibly a tool kit??

We originally thought a trailer would be good for toting the heavy starter pack. But that would have got in the way when towing the rail. So Kiwicar came up with some hairbrained sidecar idea :)

We also thought that it would need a bit more oomph to tow a car. a 100cc motor was expensive, so I bought another 50cc motor.

We have canibalised the scooter and some chopper handlebars + a load of other crap we had lying around.

So it will have one inboard engine, one outboard engine, two fuel tanks, disk brakes and a bling exhaust system.

We have a bag full of assorted primary drive cogs so we can tinker with final drive ratio's.

Next job will be to mount the second engine and weld up the idler gears so both engines are connected and then a single chain to a second idler gear where the secondary chain will drive the rear wheel.

Then we need to figure out how to make one twist grip actuate two carbs.
Weld up some 22mm steel tube to make both exhaust fit and then see how two different two stroke engines with two differing power bands behave when the throttle is opened :)

At the moment I've nicknamed it the 234. 2 engines, 3 wheels, 4 exhausts

Looks like it could be fun...
As for the twistgrip and 2 carbs issues, lots of 2-stroke bikes have split throttle cables, for carbs and auto lube that could be used, or the Moto Guzzi's use split cables for the V twin set up. You will need a dual twistgrip and 2 cables..... like this for example...

Much the same, except in plastic.
A company called Domino also do them, but any breakers should have plenty off BMW/Guzzi/CX500 or similar.
