In car 10.61 in NSCC final

Post by dbv8 »

You can see Ian Walley in my rear view mirror as he reels me in at the top end. Very close race, i took the win by just 0.028 of a second.

Hi
would you not be quicker with higher overall gearing to get rid of that upshift just before the finish line? It might also get away from the upshift right after launch. Could you launch in second maybe and pick a bit there? It just seems you have the clutch peddle on the floor for a large part of the run.
Best regards
Mike

I changed my diff from the standard 3.45 to a 3.08 as i wanted to do high speed stuff as the car ran out of revs in 5th at about 160. With the new diff i ran 176.5 in the mile at Elvington with a few hundred rpm left. It hasnt slowed me on the strip at all and is much nicer on the road, i can cruise off cam at 91mph at 3000 rpm.

I know manual boxes arent the best for drag racing but i wouldnt have it any other way. I think my gearchanges are fairly quick and i barely stab the clutch when changing. Not sure where you see me on the clutch for a long time :?

Hi Del
your changes are very slick, I just felt there were rather a lot of them, just looking at the video it had me thinking (risky I know)
best regards

2nd gear launch may be doable, but you'll need to be a lot harder on the clutch/drivetrain doing it.

1st is clearly working very well anyway

Sometimes if it aint broke...dont try and break it lol
