Why not happy ?

They are a clunky old thing. Even a little lash does still create a fair bit if free movement at the prop.

I just fit shims until it rotates freely Coops. Then I go racing :)

I get a horrid noise and vibration on deceleration and the odd acceleration,
I thought it was down to the caltrac bars,
but the whole floor rumbles and vibrates,

On either of those the preload is already taken up, so that shouldnt make a difference.

The lash will be felt on/off throttle, stop start kind of thing where the play needs taken up each time.

But straightforward acceleration, lash shouldnt even come into it. Plus if it's wrong, the CWP will soon wear and start to get noisy.

Is the propshaft itself a correct length, and not bottomed out in the gearbox or anything as axle moves up/down ? And also as engine moves back/forwards

The prop has a slip yoke somewhere to allow it to move freely ?

yeah has slip joint on rear section before the centre bearing so when axle moves it can go in and out,
front section from centre bearing to gear box is fixed (flange on gear box)

not as far as we know mate,
car has been fine except for this vibration that's getting worse on accel /decal if you touch throttle as the vibration happens it goes until you release the throttle the faster you go the worse it gets

Has it been there since the axle was fitted, or has it appeared over time ?

was a little when we fitted the axle, but over time its got worse
I did post up about the back lash concern etc on and old post when we first did this axle conversion after collecting the axle from ARRC but after a few poss on here saying that's normal I didn't take it back to them, but starting to wonder now if I really should of,

Would do no harm to let him see it now surely ?

Especially as you had mentioned it before.

It may be the lash, but cant really see how it would cause a vibration. Generally it's just a bit of a clunk back n forwards

I may try and get some bearings for it here in the UK and put new bearings in the axle while out and maybe look at getting a set of 3.55 gears and do it all now.
bugger may need shims too :(
