MGB having some fun with Paul Marston at North Weald :)

I went to North Weald on Sunday and had some fun. I was surprised to be honest. I've never made a 10 at North Weald on that concrete runway.
But the first run of the day was a 10.7 @ 136mph. I was more than happy with that and decided to watch some racing for the rest of the day and maybe do another run just before closing time. but at lunchtime a mate came over and said they were calling for me to go to race control??
They normally select the 8 quickest cars on track and get them to do a shootout. I wasnt bothered to be honest, but my mate said this was a separate competition? I asked at race control and was told that there were four 10 second cars on track so they were doing another comp for those alone. But I also know that Paul was there so the outcome of the day was set in stone really. I won the eliminator with a red light in the other lane. Just as well because a few seconds into the run the MG decided it wanted to turn sharp right so I backed out and tickled it across the line with 12 seconds and 90mph. As I drove back the other was was waved past the staging area and I was called in as i won by default
This meant I was up against Paul which cheered me up really. There was no way I was going to beat him so I didnt have to worry about not getting the trophy. As we left the line Paul bogged a little but soon got along side by the 1/8th. I could hear him tickling the pedal, and just then the MG decided it wanted to go somewhere else, but I kept my foot in and bullied the steering wheel. Just before the finish Paul stamped on the pedal for just a second or so and shot by. It was great to see
In that second or so he sped up to 153mph with a wimpy 10.3 to my 10.6 @ 133mph
I spent a good while after the race chatting to Paul and his Wife Sam + crew. Paul runs a drag racing school and was was of the teachers on a Dial in Day that me and Mike did earlier this year at the Pod to learn about bracket racing. I was racing the Drag School car
Heres the vid !!
