Street tires

Post by blueraider »

I am planning to buy a set of high-performance all-season tires for my Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. Is anyone here familiar with Toyo Tires' Proxes 4 Plus? A friend recommended it to me.

What size ?

For cheap performance tyres, dont overlook what the drifters are using.

I've found the http://westlaketiremotorsportseurope.com/shop/

to be very good. Far cheaper than 888's etc, and for most part as good. Certainly for road use with more water channels they'd be a better all rounder.

More recently just bought a pair of the TriAce to try at the back. They only arrived the other day, and they're pretty damn soft.

Last year I went from the Westlakes to R888R, mainly as Westlake didnt have what I needed in time for me racing. And although many are giving raving reviews about the new Toyo...I really dont think it was anything special. And certainly the rears have lasted no time at all..which for the money is no use to me ! lol

I use Kumho KU39s on my trackday car. Decent grip in dry, very good in the wet (as I found out on a soaked Knockhill trackday last week) and £300ish a set fitted on 18" rims - 225s front & 255s on the rear.

Think they are a bit harder compound than the likes of the Toyo's but have stood up well to the track day abuse so far.
