Been popping in daily, and of late, leaving, despondent.

I said this earlier in the year that Facebook was killing the forum
Traffic is way down the past 2 months

I frequent a few motor forums and they've all gone quiet, except for a bike forum which still burbles along rapidly.

I joined facebook to keep in touch with family, but found myself being drawn into it all. I found that I have nearly 200 friends, and well over half I have never met.

So, all facebook car pages that I joined, I have now unjoined (is that a word), and I now have 52 friends on there, the rest I have deleted. I don't join in with any car based discussions, unless I know the people well and then it's only general chit chat.

I can't see facebook ever having the wealth of knowledge offered by this forum, or any other dedicated forums for that matter.

I don't do FarceBook since an initially friendly discussion went seriously south and nasty. Froze my account and haven't looked back.

I far prefer a forum too - although do use Facebook for some car groups.
But you can have a moderated group on there too - to avoid things getting nasty. The only real plus with Facebook is the ease of posting pics. Which can also be a minus. :D

.... now and then .. don't have a lot to say. The rover went in the pop and I went with a lm7 (iron block ls) and 4l60e, it took tonnes of reading to be able to tune so found myself more on hp tuners website. The current upheaval with the dvla and there radically altered cars has kept me rather busy too :(

Facebook doesn't have the technical depth or the search capability of a place like this.

Went digging and found the the Gold Member thing is £12 per year. Far too cheap so just set up a monthly donation which doesn't come close to the value of this place. The advice here has saved my many expensive mistakes so I'm still quids in.

like I said before the forum will stay open while its being posted in,
