It looks like a lovely Black... Until the Sun comes out ???

This is a Sebring arch with a daylight torch shone on it in the oven before polishing ;)

Very nice indeed! Is it a flip-flop or straight flake mix?

Looks really lovely. Some skill there, I'd say.

Hello me old love sausage!!
How you doing. I'm guessing busy 7 days most weeks like me?

I've had this weekends work cancelled so today was fun in the sun with Grand Daughter, playing in the park, losing her kite onto the local school roof as she let it go, off to Asda to get her some new shoes, then to a local farm for lunch and a play with all the animals, and now a few cold ones.

Tomorrow I'll be at the workshop from 10 till 4 to get the engine out again after I've sketched the engine mounts I need to make to weld to the chassis rails. When I fitted the new Chevy a couple of weekends back I was over the moon. It all seemed to fit real nice. At the end of the day I decided to put the plugs back in to keep dust out. 1,3,5,7,2,4,and 6 went in ok. Then I found that the steering shaft ran right across the plug hole for number 8 GRR!!!

I spent a few days thinking about how to alter the steering system to give me clearance. We had all sorts of ideas about moving the rack and fitting multiple UJ's etc etc... Then I decided to apply some Perry logic. I lifted the front of the engine until the plug would go in. I chucked the spirit level across the carbs and found that they were almost level FOR & AFT. And by the time the rear slicks go back on, the engine will sit just right. I got no8 plug fitted and with the plug boot on I have 3mm between the boot and the steering shaft. RESULT !!!

I still have to be wary of chassis twist when I launch the car. I guess the wheelie bars may help with this when they are fitted? Ironically, with the new engine in situ, the 3 bolt holes on the Chevy block sit right above the existing wedge plates on the chassis that the Rover V8 bobbins dropped into. So I may be able to make some additional mounts to assist the front motor plate mount? I guess if the chassis twists enough when I launch the car I'll know quickly because I'll drop a cylinder as no8 plug fouls the steering shaft and gets broken? Who cares? I just want to be back on track by the end of this year. I may not have the windows in the car when I'm ready for testing. But I've spoken to the race director at the Pod and he says that I can either wear arm restraints or fit my window net. Then I can do test passes with no door windows and no rear screen fitted. :)

Hiya Pel
Not been the best year I've ever had and the last two months the worst ever in my life
Lost my dad very suddenly in May then got poorly with food poisoning then got worse with same and then got seriously ill and ended up in hospital because of it
Then I had an operation cancelled because I was not mentally of physically strong enough to deal with it
Am on the mend now though and have actually worked on my wagon tonight for an hour or so which was nice as prior to all my crap work was seven days as you said and we were very tired
My sense of humour has taken a kicking but lurking on here helps some
Really pleased to see your progress mate
Am loving it
Cheers
P
