Forum Software Upgraded

As well as moving servers, the forum software has been upgraded (from phpbb 2.0.5 to phpbb 3.2.1). This means it's not quite the same as before. Lots of new features, some have gone AWOL. The highlights are :-
  • HTTPS can now be used. I can't seem to get it to redirect from http to https (yet), but please update your bookmarks
  • Collapsible Forums. On the front page you can now collapse areas you don't have a huge interest in if you wish
  • You can now add photos to posts simply by dragging and dropping the files in like this

    IMG-20171203-WA0013.jpg (208.38 KiB) Viewed 2999 times
  • If you have multiple photos in a post, you can get a slideshow effect by clicking on them
  • The garage as it was, is no more. There was no way to move the existing code so I'm re-writing it. The data is all safe, and can be displayed via profile pages. If (for example) you look at Coops profile and click on 'Ford Capri' it'll take you to a page all about his car. More general garage pages and the ability to add/update data will be forthcoming.
  • You can now share topics with Facebook/Twitter/G+ etc
There is other stuff that I can't remember for now :)

Please ask any questions you may have.

you also now need to go here and select your notification requirements (as i found out thanks to scudderfish)
https://v8forum.co.uk/forum/ucp.php?i=u ... on_options

while there PLEASE have a good look around the new member profile settings, i know its a lot to take in and will take us all a while to adjust but its worth it :nw

the private message section has a limit and once the inbox is full you will not receive any more messages until you empty your inbox, theres a link to click in the pm section to then download any messages held due to non delivery
