UPLOADING PHOTOGRAPHS INTO A POST

hi all
apologies if i haven't picked this up elsewhere, but i cant seem to upload a photo into a post of mine.
there is an IMG tab within the message box, but all that happens is this- [img] and i have no means of actually uploading a photo..
could anyone give me any pointers please?

It's rather long winded, I'm afraid. You can't actually upload pics to this site, but you can make a browser show them as if they were.
Upload the pic to a hosting site. Photobucket, etc.
Copy and paste the URL of that pic on here - there will be a direct link or some such beside the pic in Photobucket.
Highlight the link on here and click on Img. That should appear either side of the link. Use preview to confirm it has worked.

so it seems that the 1st [img] isn't needed for the link..

After you click the Img button, make sure there at no spaces between [Img] and the URL at either end.
You'll know if it's right if preview shows the pic.
