Beautiful, a lot of work must have gone into getting the body that good, especially in black, great looking engine bay too.

You appear to have a 4.6 engine, whats the spec.

Owner of an "On the Road" GT40 Replica by DAX powered by 3.9Hotwre Efi, worked over by DJ Motors. EFi Working but still does some kangaroo at low revs (Damn the speed limits) In to paint shop 18/03/08.

They never ever came out the factory with that panel fit and quality of paint! :lol: very nice.

Thanks for your comments (much appreciated).

I've owned the car for nearly 9 years now. It used to be pearlescent racing green. I took it off the road in feb 07 because of a couple of rust bubbles & the wind screen had started to leak. Anyway I stripped it down to the bare metal & by the time I had finished I had replaced or repaired most of the panels. I then chose Titanium metallic for the colour with a black & silver graphic over the bonnet & down the sides. The seats I had recovered in black & green leather to match the original interior. This with the headlining was the most expensive outlay. The engine I brought as a second hand shortblock which I then reconditioned. The heads are SD1 with big valves fitted & the ports are all opened up. It has a 600cfm edelbrock & the inlet manifold has been ported to match the heads. The cam is a typhoon. The billet pullies, altenator fan, alternator mount, steering wheel boss & center caps etc I made myself.
I've not had it dynoed but on an empty stretch of dual carriageway one night I wound it right off the speedo (just out of curiosity).

Your car looks GREAT!

Think the colour of the paintwork suits the car so well. Nice choice. Looks modern, yet totally flatters that classic SD1 shape. Beautiful. Truly beautiful.

I have a Rover SD1, saw your one in the Rover SD1 Club forum in photos taken by another club member at the Rover SD1 National at Crich last year. Yours was parked next to a Peugeot Blue coloured one. Your car was one of the cars that really caught my attention thanks to the colour. A club member posted a link to your car on the Club forum.

The interior looks very classy, like that of a Rover P6, with the bright chrome along the doors, on the gear stick, steering wheel. The leather upholstery finishes it off perfectly.

That engine bay, again, looks beautiful. You're quite a craftsman.

Only one thing that doen't look quite right is the wing mirrors. If you'd kept the SD1 mirrors and either, chromed the entire mirror, or remove the chrome and rubber and replace it with body colour trim, would have preferred that. They're a little too retro. Thats my only negative.

You've done a terrific job! :D

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your comments. I was still assembling it at 4pm on the day I left for Criche so I didn't have time to give it a final polish & if you had opened the boot it was totaly empty.

As for the mirrors they are not exactly what I was after (I'm still looking) but like the wheels people either love them or hate them.

Can you post some pictures of your car as I'd really like to see it.

Also will you be going to the National this year? If so I will see you there.

P6B, thank you for that lovely comment about my one. Have tried my best. Been washing, polishing and valeting it since I was 14 years old (am 31 now). was kept dry under cover wrapped in blankets. My father was originally the owner/driver.


Ged, I can leave you a link to my one, as it hasn't got enough cylinders to permit it to be posted on here.



Will definitely be going to this years National. Nothing will keep me away. Will see you there.

Finally someone has read my thoughts.

It comes from growing up in NZ in the 70s & dare I say it, a love for "OVERHAULIN" & Musclecars.

To everyone else a big thanks yet again for your positive feedback!

It really makes the 18 months of hard slog worthwhile.
