1991 Range Rover 2 door - CSK

Post by task »

I bought this as a project (it did come with a MOT but I'm not sure how it got one), spent the best part of a year working on it any hours I could.

It's a bit of a rare thing, number 120 of 200 built, I'm not sure how many are left on the road.

There's a whole host of photos and I wrote a build thread on a Land Rover forum that shows the extent of the rust (or a better description is the metal lace work left holding the thing together).

It now looks like this;

(just been waxoyled hence the stuff running down the LPG tank).

In addition to the extras Land Rover added to the CSK in the factory I did a few modifications along the rebuild process as such;
  • S/S braided brake flexible's
    Drilled/grooved discs
    -1" Stiff springs
    Bilstein dampers
    All bushes are now Polybushed
    18" wheels with lower profile tyres

    Rimmers sports exhaust/manifolds (sounds nice but unsure if I gain power)
    3.9 "serpentine" Rover V8 with piper torque-max cam
    Sequential LPG System

    Overfinch/MoMo steering wheel
    "Auto-Dim" rear view mirror
    Upgraded audio + bluetooth handsfree
I have a fair few plans for the coming year, I'm looking to build a 4.6 Rover V8 with a higher state of tune, something I'm sure I will be asking questions about at a later date.

If anyone wants to see photos of the build or anything else then shout up :)

Well, as a bit of an update the CSK now has a new engine as follows;

V8Dev Stage 3 heads
MC1 Cam
"Duplex" timing chain
Top-hatted 4.6 block + line bored and new cam bearings
new MA chip for the hotwire system + GEMS AFM

She's all tucked up for the winter now though, awaiting the salt to be washed from the roads in the spring.

That looks great 8-)

I had "performance" cross drilled discs front and rear on my 3.9 classic

They were nothing but bother, holes filled up with dust, the grooves filled up with rust (I cleaned them a couple of times) so you'd get pulsations through the pedal

Rears lasted 14k miles and they were shot, didn't get much more out of the fronts, my car was in daily use too.

I ran them into the ground then replaced them.

In summary, looked good when new, but were garbage

They have now been replaced with mintex std spec fronts and rears :wink:
