Hi Dave
It depends on the flow rate of your pump.
You will need at least 5psi of flow at the solenoid when it is open plus enough flow to feed the carb as well.
You would also need to T off from the main supply and this can be a pain as you may not have a lot of space to play with .
Personally I think it is better to run a separate system for nitrous with at least a 6mm fuel line with filters.
A Facet competition or Holley pump would work fine, but you will need to run a pressure regulator in line before the solenoid itself.

By going separate you can isolate problems quickly.
Cheers

Hi,Thanks for the detailed reply, seems good advice,The carter pump im using is about 7 psi,but Im only using a 8mm fuel pipe,so a second pump may be the way to go,yet another item i need to switch on!,thanks dave

Dave
If you need special fittings or anything nitrous then please pm me as I have a direct link to the whole nitrous oxide systems product range at discounted prices.
There is nothing dodgy about the link either it is just from years of dealing with one particular company and I get some money off which I am happy to pass on to forum members :D
This goes for the new fuel pump as well.
Cheers

If you are using a 4 barrel carb, the Carter marine pump will be ok up to about 100 shot of gas. I'm still running a carter on mine but for the carb only now. The first carter pump started to dwindle in output after 2 years of racing. And I was told the I could not get a rebuilt kit for it by Real Steel. I only bought the second one as it was a Friday and I needed something to drop straight back in. This pump is now 2 years old so I'll be keeping my eye on it. I use a Holley pump for the nitrous now.
The Sniper kit was my first ever kit back in the day. But it had its limitations. I would advise that fitting all your nitrous lines in -4 would be a good idea from day one. At 800-900psi bottle pressure -4 line will easily flow 300hp of nitrous. Even with a standard off the shelf 14 foot supply line :)
Where do you live Dave??
What carb are you running??
And most important, are you running a single or dual plane inlet manifold?

Because I have a custom plate here that would be great for back to back testing against the NOS spray bar plate.

Paul!!
I've recently got some -4 bits from Pirtek at a reasonable price.

Perry

Hi Perry, thanks for all the info, just need to digest it all now,had too many beers,I live in lichfield staffordshire,Im using a performer rpm dual plane and a 600 holley vac secs,Not too sure what you mean by -4 line, presume id of fuel line,Bit new to this nitrous thing!
Im running about 350 horsepower at moment I was hoping 150 shot would be enough!

Dave
Have a look at the Earls Performance website.
This will give you all the info you need.

Dave!
I'll be very interested in how the holley 600 with vac secondaries performs from idle to wide open throttle on the performer manifold.
I have a 600 double pumper on a single plane mani and it still has a bogging issue if I go from idle to WOT instantly.

But this is on a smaller 280ci engine !!

Do you mean when I have installed the nitrous,at the moment idle to wide open throttle is superb!spins the tyres up very quickly no hesitation at all!
Rovers arent my thing but I thought a 600 double pumper is a bit on the large size but I really dont know!

Thats my point Dave!
I'm not sure that a 600DP on my single plane mani was the right choice for my small engine.
But then neither was my 600 Weber with Vac secondaries?

The Weber actually stopped the engine if I flicked it to WOT from idle. The Holley is not as bad. But it still bogs.

Sounds like you are on the right track mate. You just need to make sure that you are running the right fuel and nitrous pressures for the kit now :)

A bottle heater kit is essential in UK climates !
