3.9 with sequential multi-point system

Post by dieseldog69 »

I bought my 3.9 V8 Discovery very cheaply and am having the following work done, complete new cam shaft and valve train, and if you are reading this and thinking "MUG" you couldnt be more wrong, its exactly what I wanted in terms of age and bodily condition, and with the engine I have had my eye on for a long time, it is a well know fact that the cam in the rover engines rarely give more than a 80,000 mile life span and with 102,000 its re-build time to get it back to scratch, and for what I paid and combined with the re-build costs its still a bloomin cheap car!!!

1st thing is this though, where should I start with the LPG system???

I bought the car with this not working and figured if it was a cheap and nasty DIY fitment then it would come off but it is a multi point injected system made by LANDI RENZO an Italian firm, I have fitted a couple of vaccuum venturi kits on carb 3.5s and they were pretty easy and fairly faultless but this is new ground for me.

Should I put it in to a specialist to get it serviced and tuned once the engine work is done or find out a lot more about the system and tackle it DIY style?

Thoughts and suggestions?

IF you can get the documentation on the system, I see no reason not to tackle it yourself.

But if it's a closed shop, dealer only policy by the manufacturer, I guess you have no choice.

I have no proper paper work for the system but I do know it was once a certified system and has this stated on the log book, was told by the dvla it had something to do with the congestion charge and the LEZ in the big smoke.

Is this a system anyone else has heard of or has experience of?

I have a PRINS auto gas works near me here in Belgium and am considering them as I know the owner really well, to me gas is more dangerous than petrol and I have barely lived so wanna get this right should I chose the DIY route.

Cheers Nigel.
