BLOS LPG CARB (variable venturi mixer errr gas S.U. carb!

Hi Guys
Thought I'd post a few pics of my newest toy
Has anyone seen or used one of these? In theory it looks a pretty good upgrade from the usual gas ring mixer! The guy selling em states almost no reduction in airflow compared to the normal mixer

Cost £110 on flea-bay, I will look for a link for you!
It will be a while before I get a chance to test it, but it looks the nads! Its basically an S.U. for gas, you can fit it as aplain mixer, BUT you can also just plum it from the vapouriser and forget all the e.c.u's and soleniods and just set the mixture/idle as per petrol carb!!
And like an S.U. you can also change needles (well make the slot larger in the pipe where the gas is from) and alter the fueling at diffrent opening points too! I really think this is worth some BIG H.P. gains on sihgle point lpg
!! They also state a ROCK SOLID idle too

no idea as for forklifts, but its a nice quality item and a stonkingly good idea........ but the proof of the pudding!
Well, will find out in the near-ish future! and then I will post the results

so its like a carb but without the throttle mechanism
does it go before a throttle body

you got it, just place it infront of the T/B and the engine vacuum lifts the plastic piston/slide (like an S.U. / stromberg) progresively and opens up the tube (think s.u. needle). It has an adjustment for idle / idle mixture and main jet (from what I can tell) and you can also open the slot in the same way you would thin an S.U. needle
All in all, the theory sounds spot on

IF it works well and as I will have a 'spare' 3.9 soon, I'm even contemplating a siamesed twin T/B with two of these as a little project, maybe a twin turbo on gas using a 'suck through' setup......Hmmmm, probably a pipe dream, but an LPG twin turbo would be intresting!

but how does it fuel at idle against a close butterfly, maybe it goes after the tb?
or the butterfly needs a bypass?

the butterfly CANT be closed or how would the engine idle on a normal mixer? and the BLOS has an adj screw that lifts the slide to get the required mixture/idle speed

would it work through the idle control circuit on a injection vehicle though?
to be honest i dont know, but im pretty sure the mixer systems i have seen, the tb is closed at idle

well, as far as I can tell it must be open a very small amount on mine as it couldnt idle when on gas otherwise. There is just no other route for the gas/air mix to enter the manifold as my mixer is before the T/B and all are as far as I know? (apart from inj setups and thats totally diffrent!)
Anyway, wont know for sure until its fitted and setup and that is going to be a few weeks maybe a month or two yet
so we will have to see!

Does it ahve any hot water jacket?
If not how will it stop freezing up as the LPG vapourises?

There is no water jacket, but then there is nothing on a normal mixer ring either! I have read some very positive reports on other forums (4x4) and they all sing its praises. One chap went on the rollers before and after fitting and was getting 97% of the power he was getting on petrol!!
But as I said before, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! lol
