RPI Power Plenum

Post by Richard P6 »

I have been looking at this Power Plenum from RPI which is supposed to give you fuel injected performance from a 4 barrel, even on LPG.

Anyone tried one?

Richard

I'd take anything that RPI state with a huge sack of salt! For starters they can't even jet the Eddy 500 carb properly, their Ebay blurb states that the carb is not "jet sensitive" yet I've found that you can set the cruise up with a jet and rod combo and its fine then go one thousandth of an inch smaller with the size of the aperture that the fuel flows through and the car is un-driveable....I'd call that quite sensitive! This setup looks better... http://www.ramairbox.com/

Dunno mate, I've never used the stuff! I thought that the carb played no part in running the engine once it was burning LPG though? I though it was a 'mixer' that controlled the engine.

Pete you are spot on in what you say about the carb not having any part in determining the mixture on an LPG system.

Once running on LPG fed from the mixer ring the only bit of the carb doing anything is the throttle butterfly. Mixture control is performed by the vapouriser and power/economy valve on the gas side of the LPG pipework.
