Wideband sensor relative to wastegate exit

Post by pupp »

Any wisdom on where in relation to each other on a turbo motor a wideband sensor and wastegate exit might sit? Any difficulty in having the sensor upstream of the wastegate port if that otherwise fits well? Would O2 levels be expected to be different through the wastegate at all (can't think why but worth asking)?

Really doesnt matter.

Place the sensor more than 12-18" away from the turbo discharge. The sensors do not like excessive heat.

And then the usual dont mount them upside down etc because of risk of condensation damaging them.

Thanks - I doubt it will end up that remote from the outlet but good news there's some scope to move them around

Too close to the turbo will reduce sensor life, and potentially less accurate.

How much would depend how hot really, thats why 12" or further is a sensible general rule
