It's also called the fuel spill - a tube just below the dashpot that normally has a hose to carry spilt fuel away from the hot parts of the engine.

May well be but where is it ?
I have vents to the rocker covers
Pipes that stick up at 45 degrees for the advance and retard and
the fuel supply.
Also a funny 'monkey face' boss on the side with holes in ?

A picture might help better than "sticky up pipes" lol.

But that route to the fuel bowl should definitely not be connected to engine intake vacuum, or it'll likely suck a load of fuel in ! lol

If you're applying a vacuum to the float chambers all sorts of odd things might happen. :D

Here's the best pic I can find - not a V8, but shows all the hose connections.

Thanks for help. The overflow vent is the 'sticky up at 45 degree pipe which does not look as if it goes to the float chamber but it does and by blocking with vacuum pipe it caused pressure in bowl and flooding.
