After having a browse on here I’m at a bit of conflict as to what exhaust system I need

Mine is a 3.9 efi v8 r reg 1997 so precat.

I don’t want it so loud it’s offending but I was thinking a straight mid pipe and leave the rear resonator in place

Will headers make a massive difference or just up engine bay temperatures and affect the starter motor

I run the stock sd1 exhaust manifold, downpipes and Y piece on mine, welded on a 2" connector and a single jetex mid size box and straight out the back on the pop, sounded just right to me 8)

Was that with efi?

All the Landy know it alls day the efi needs a standard exhaust as it bla bla balanced

Is this true or just like the myth of the person putting there motor home on cruise control and making a cup of tea

For the 3.9 - tuned extractors do little extra over the standard manifold. Gains are to be made in the exhaust system aft of the manifolds - slightly larger diameter pipes and free flow mufflers make a noticeable improvement.

I ran carb, rover efi, and fast efi on it, but the exhaust never seemed to mind what I was doing
