Recommend fuel pump
Can anyone recommend a good fuel pump to feed an Edelbrock 500 on a 3.9 RV8. My Facet Red top packed up yesterday after only 5k miles of use so not too impressed with those. Thanks.

Re: Recommend fuel pump
Hi James, the Holley "red top" is a good pump and will keep up with the demands of a 3.9 with ease, it is a noisy pump though even when sitting on rubber mounts, its around the £100 mark if my memory serves me correct, I hope this helps.
Re: Recommend fuel pump
Thanks i managed to get mine going again now. I stripped it down and found it full of debris. Cleaned it all out and seems all ok again now. Quite like that its serviceable.
Re: Recommend fuel pump
Skip the Facet, they do not deliver enough for the 4-barrel carb. Especialy when they are hot.
Holley Red is what you need.
Facet Red Top 40 usGPH free flow. @ 7psi thats about 10 usGPH
Holley Red 97 usGPH free flow. At 7psi thats still 25usGPH
Those Facet pumps wear out fast, especialy on long journeys.

Thanks JP. Never noticed a problem with delivery. I do a lot of long journeys though and did notice wear on the piston when I stripped the pump down.

Re: Recommend fuel pump
I looked at all the well-known American pumps Summit was offering and Facet. Most were claimed to be rather noisy and some not too reliable.
So I ended up buying a Pierburg rollervane pump which is mounted inline on the crossmember outside the tank on my 4.6 with Eddy 500.
Supposed to support 340hp, rated at 3.9 - 5.5 psi, delivers 130 litres per hour (34.34GPH), self priming, lift capable, no return, very quiet, weighs 0.5kilo. I think they're OE on some Porsches.
Got it for AUD136 at Injectacarb
