Rover 3.9 hot wire CO

can anyone advise what the CO reading should be for a 3.9 Hotwire engine

Mine is from 1990
3.5% and 1200 hc must not be exceeded

In the UK the emissions are based on age of car or engine whichever is older.
Need to prove age of engine.

Now put that same engine in a 1969 MG or Landrover and the emission requirements are visible smoke only

I think the factory figure is the same as for the flapper - neither with cats.

1.5%, +/- 0.5% CO.

With my pretty standard 3.5 EFI, but fitted with a MegasSquirt and wideband O2 sensor, I idle at 14.1 AFR.
