Discovery 3.9 EFI GCC Non Cat v8 Idle CO is high

Post by jimbob »

Morning,

I'm after a little advice. Recently the v8 had an idle issue, it would stall on idle when ever i put it in P/N or switched the A/C off.

This was resolved by cleaning the flame trap, stepper motor etc, for good measures i reset the base idle to 550 - 560 rpm.

Ive the emission test soon, CO level is up around 3.95 at base idle, with all hoses connected, as if the engine was in a normal condition. HC's are around 260 - 290

Timing was moved from 8 BTDC to 12 BTDC as it felt a little better under the right foot. AFM reading is around 1.45volts at idle, throttle pot is reading correct, as is the water probe. I'm using the ECU mate to see things in real time.

last year CO was around 2.15 ish, now its jumped, I'm thinking re-gaping the plugs, fresh oil & filter, air filter, and a redex flush.

What else could i do, apart from a good thrash down the road.

Plug leads dizzy cap, or brand new plugs

Cheers

Jim
