Found on the web that someone has been dynotuned his 5.2L rover v8 witch has got custom inlet manifold, H404cam and David Vizard/V8 developments custom heads, Motec etc..
Results are only 373hp/395ft/lbs
So what is wrong with that engine? Head´s?

Hi
looking at the photo it looks like the rocker gear is not original to the heads, there do not appear to be any push rod holes near the rocker gear in fact no push rod holes at all. Is this just a collection of bits sat on top of each other?
Al I think you are right this is an DOHC head with half the rocker gear from a SOHC hemi engine (ford CVH?) on the inlet side and some other (push rod?) type rocker gear on the exhaust side sat on top.
Would it be simpler to transplant the whole of each head with it's valve gear as one?
best regards
Mike

There must be somethink really really wrong that engine..
I understand H404 cam is quite wild. Very poor idle, very poor drive ability, good mid range, excellent bhp.. Has anyone got any data of this cam?
Those vizard head´s has got mammoth valves 50/42mm. I do not understand why so big, they allmost hit cylinder wall, and 42mm exhaust valves will flow enought for any chevy or ford small block engine.. Maybe +1000hp or more..
Maybe compression ratio is far to low or inlet manifold is bad design..
Or Vizard make only some pub horses..

You are right it is similar, just not what is in the photo, the rocker gear is different in that the ones in the picture have adjusters on the inlet where the ones in the photo do not, and adjusters are on the exhaust side in the photo, as I say there do not appear to be push rod holes in the head just spark plug holes. There is also something missing off the front of the head castings.terziakis wrote:
This is Toyota 2T/3T, looks similar to me
Is this someone's project on here or just a photo found on the internet? If it is a project then I think it would be well worth starting a separate thread for it as there could be a lot of interest in the drag racing community.

Some guy in the Finland start to build 3.5litre Rover V8 with those heads´s.. Hi didin´t give us any more info, because it is "prototype"..
And i just have a look toyota 2T head´s on my local motorshop, they don´t have those rockers, but head´s are 1:1 identical in the pick.. Bore spaicing is approx 100mm vs rover 108mm. So need lot of work..
Found on the web 2TC cylinder head.. Slightly difference in head end
http://www.perfectengine.com/Toyota_Cor ... tc-cha.htm
big hole´s top of the pick 6 are from pushrod´s holes.. 4x pushrod´s will go straigt up and rest 4x goes for small angle (exhaust side)

I see the holes now, I was looking for slots parallel to the inlet gasket face,
should have thought about it more.
Surely the adaptation from 100mm to 108mm centres is really just a case of chop the head in half between the centre two cylinders and bevel all the edges and weld it back together again with a 9/16" or 3/4" thick piece of ally plate welded in between the two halves, 9/16" to centre the heads on the outer two bores and 3/4 if you preferred to spread the misalignment evenly. Oh you might need to drill some holes in the plate to allow the coolant through, oh and work out how to get 10 head bolts in place.
This is interesting.

Reminds me of that 1000bhp MGB project from last year:

Interesting from an engineering point of view, but a bit pointless really.

RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.
