TRS TA Performance Cylinder heads

Post by mgbloke »

Thought I would start a new thread.

I am expecting to take delivery of these heads next week.
The spec.
Assembled valves, springs, collets etc. custom shaft mount needle roller race rockers. head stud kit. Alloy re usable valley cover.

Rover rocker covers fit, along with inlet & exhaust manifolds.
Chambers are 35cc as opposed to the merlins 32cc so unless I address this the CR will be lower than ideal.

I hope I am wrong, but that little dark line between the 2 valves looks like a pre-made stress riser that will become a crack before long..... It looks like a machining pass that wasn't correctly programmed.
Cheers,
John

This is not my actual head just a photo that ive found to show the valve size. as far as I know they could be un finished as you can clearly see the machining marks.

Zero waiting time as they are in stock, 2 pairs left I think.
Not sure what the actual heads themselves are but the package I bought would have got more than 2 sets of merlins. Delivery about £300 inc insurance 4 day service.

I see, thanks. I am very keen to see how these would stack up against wild cat heads. Although my 300 heads are yet to be tested. I am sooo tempted to just splash out on them. According to the new owner of wildcat thy will be cheaper then the TRS heads, but I know they are more difficult to fit etc and you need more modification. PM me if you are selling the merlins and want an offer on them. The 300 heads are for my track car but would love to put the merlins on my Landy!

Aren't they cheaper from TA than TRS? I live near TRS and it would cost me about 50% less to get them from the US than buy them here. Though TA were having some supply issues I believe.

Robrover, yes they were about £200 cheaper from TA. However TA couldn't give a date when the next batch would be ready in fact they gave me no info at all.
On the other hand TRS were very forthcoming with info on the heads and I found Ian Wilson very enthusiastic. After a few emails he asked if he could phone me so we had a chat on 3 occasions.

The heads arrived today after being delayed by authorities according to the tracking info.
They look really good with red roller rockers. It surprised me how heavy they were and look very heavy duty.
will take some pics tomorrow and post up.
well happy!

It sounds like that £200 was well worth it to me,

What are the positions of the valves in relation to normal Rover heads - for the positions of valve cutouts in the pistons.

I think the valves are in the centre of the bore same as merlins. Wont know for sure until I can do a trial fit with plasticine.
