About ready to start putting the top end back together on a 3.5 RV8. Using composite head and inlet gaskets to lower the CR a touch from the 10.5:1. Also using 3.9 EFI heads and the standard 3.9 EFI cam. Running HIF6 SU's. Unlikely to be taken above 5000 rpm much, if at all.

Settings from -6 retard up to +6 advance: question is - what effect will these settings have on torque/power?

Hello Stan,

It is my understanding that advancing the camshaft timing improves low end torque at the expence of top end power. It will also improve fuel economy. Retarding the camshaft timing,..the opposite.

When my 4.6 was built, the custom camshaft was advanced by 2 degrees, for the very reason to improve low end torque. It certainly did not hurt fuel economy either..
