Emerald K6 ECU

Post by garrycol »

Has anyone used a Emerald K6 ECU to run their 4.6 RV8 - with Thor Manifold?

If so how have you found it? Pros and Cons.

No discussion about Megasquirt please.

Thanks

Garry

I have Emerald on GEMS 4.6, works very well. I can't see why Thor would be any different.

It's a basic/budget ecu. Option for full sequential would be nice...but by no means essential.

Emerald have been around for a long time, they seem to offer a solid product. No reason at all not to go for it if it suits your needs and budget and your tuner is happy working with it.

Thanks guys - looks like a good economical option. I might look into it further.

Cheers

Why not Haltech ? it´s local to you (well from Europe´s point of view anyway :D )and there should be plenty of tuners who know Haltech software.

I'd say that's the most important thing. Choose one your installer and tuner is familiar with, and recommends.

I’ve got an emerald on my daily, been on there for 125k, never had a problem with it,
Mines got two switchable maps, highly recommend them

You're in Australia ?

And Emerald is cheaper than a local ECU ? Haltech do offer cheaper stuff too as do some other makes like Link, although I despise the Link software. Seems made by computer gamers instead of tuners.
Even here in UK, retail price on a K6 is higher than a Haltech 550 for ecu only.

First and foremost, local support and tuner should be the priority though.

But there are literally dozens of ecu options around.
