Remote oil filter

Hi
I’ve just come in from fitting the pipe work from the oil pump to the remote filter bolted to the inner wing. What a mare it was.

I just noticed a little arrow on remote filter air which I assume is “input”.

I’ve actually added the output pipe from the oil pump to it and to be honest I’m not sure if it’s out (of the oil pump) to in of the remote.

Does it mater which way you go in and out of a remote filter?

Hoping you say No!!!

Thx - Stephen

It definitely does. I got this wrong on a new engine build and ruined the engine (well, ruined the crankshaft and all the bearings).

Filters have a one way valve in them, and because of the way I had it connected, the pressure switch was still registering pressure, but it was all being bypassed straight back into the sump...

Well worth checking what is going on!

Chris.

Thx for the heads up Chris. I’ll check this out and find out what connections go where.

Undoubtably I’ve got them wrong and will have to make up some new pipes but better that than blowing my new engine

The housings are actually available that appear the same, but are opposites so you wouldnt need to change the pipework if that's easier.

As I found out once like Chris lol.

I changed the housing for a nice shiny new one......and one broken crankshaft later realised it was wrong direction lol
