I have just bought a rover V8 engine and on looking through the lists of engine numbers I can find that my engine was possibly from a P6 3500S but the compression number doesn't match.
On the engine block it states
9.25:1 CR
48109526
Along with the engine I also have a 4 speed gearbox mounted.
Any advise greatly appreciated as I plan to strip and rebuild engine before I fit it to my 1975MGB GT.

My first RV8 was in a '69 P6 3500 - an auto - which had the 10.5? :1 engine. Which positively zoomed up to maximum revs. I later had the lower compression '74 P6 3500S. Which never seemed as lively even with the manual box. And I did fit a new camshaft. Often wondered if Rover fiddled the output figures for those engines.
