Oil Leak Front of Engine

Post by Ian Anderson »

Hi

I had the Gt40 out just before Christmas

The tester said bit of an oil leak, to which I replied yes rear main drips as the car is not used regular, but stops after a couple of heat cycles over a weekend.

He said no this is at front of engine.

So I had a look and sure enough oil leak and spread by pulley making it difficult to see source.

Now front of engine is buried in against firewall and will be a seats out, firewall out job to get in there.

So before I start pulling apart to have a look see what is the consensus of where it may be leaking. Give me a point to start lookin.

Engine Rover 3.9 John Eales worked including a feed for oil to dizzy cog through an external braided hose. Only about 14000 miles n it.

Ideas thanks guys

Ian

I had a bad oil leak at the front from my high miles 3.5. From the crank pulley seal. On fixing it, there was heavy wear to the crank pulley assembly where the seal rubbed. Surprised me. :D

Check your breathers are clear as a blocked breather will make it leak oil.
