Not true. Here is a screenshot of the relevant page from RAVE. The pump may be the same, but the valving is different.

True. But no RV8 is prone to running big end bearings, so the original pump more than adequate? Interesting that few cars are fitted with an oil pressure gauge these days. :D
I suspect it was when BMW got involved with the engine they couldn't believe the numbers so decided to up them. But I agree, no point (unless they were compensating for thinner oils)

Well doesn't show up on the oil pressure gauge - I changed my 101 3.5 to a 4.6 and the gauge reads the same pressure in the same conditions for both engines.
