oil light staying on

Post by paulsv8manta »

Hi guys, I'm trying to get this engine running after a rebuild working my way through the problems!
When the engine starts the oil light stays on, and on the oil pressure gauge (electric) it's reading 2 bar.
Do you think i have a faulty sender?
Do I trust the pressure gauge and it still run the engine as i need to run the cam in.
cheers
paul

The wire going to the oil light switch could be earthing somewhere. But it probably is the switch that is naf. You could remove the switch and hold a rag over the hole while someone turns the starter on the key. If you get loads of oil squirting out then you have pressure and given the gauge reading I'd say it's safe to proceed with running the engine.
