Serpentine oil pump checking

Post by Coops »

As my new engine is nearing going back in the Capri.
What I'm after is info on deciding if the serp crank driven oil pump needs replacing or not??
Is there any way of telling??

According to my manual-
Max clearance between inner & outer rotor at closest together point 0.25mm
Max depth of any wear steps on edges of pump drive gear 0.15mm
Max clearance between the rotors and a straight edge across the housing 0.1mm

I have found on the serp pump rotors Tony that the wear is usually visual also i.e scored rotor tips and sometimes misshapen 8)
