Head Gaskets...which one?.

Post by jenko »

When I picked up my big kit of parts I was given two sets of head gaskets. Engine is fairly standard 4.0ltr, piper 270 cam, 9.35 CR.

Which one of these would you use?. Thickness seem the same on both types.

Based on looks alone, I'd go for the right side one.

The one on the left looks like it came from Real Steel. Part no AZ900.
I have used these many times even for turbo application without any problems. I like the copper edging at the waterways and the ring seal at the oil way to the rockers.

are the ones or the right "elring"....as I use them last time.

The are OEM quality gaskets, so cant be too bad.

I have also used "real steels" own gaskets a number of times and never had anything go wrong with them.

My own plan is to use "cometic" ones during my build, these aren't cheap and debateable as to whether they are "good value for money" for not....depends on the use and how much money you don't mind spending.

I have some ebay ones in my garage too.....and I bet these would be ok too.....think I paid £12 for them......

regards

scott
