cylinder head gasket - bore diameters

Post by Seight-V8 »

hello all,

I've had my rover V8 4.6 block top hatted a while back, and the bores machined to match my current 94mm +0.50mm pistons.

I notice head gaskets come in 94mm and 96mm bore sizes....

Am I best going for the 94mm one and being a little undersize, or going for the 96mm one and being a little oversize.

Baring in mind I don't have any chamfer at the top of the bores like the standard LR ones, as the top hats are pretty square at the top.

cheers

scott

The OE Elring gaskets are more like 95mm IIRC I can check on monday if you like I have a used set for just these measuring purposes
8-) very slight gasket protrusion into the chamber is not an issue its when you have lots of the fire ring in the chamber things become as issue
