4.6 RV8 cam core plug leak

Sorry if these are dim questions but its the first time I've gone this far into the engine - the core plug at the gearbox end of the camshaft is leaking, whats the best glue/sealer to put a new one back in with?
I'm guessing I whack the old one it in the middle to get it out, same as a waterway core plug?
