Perry, I presume you must have outriggers and steel posts then?

I see you have outriggers Pel, Are they too tight?, It looks like the are rubbing, I eventually dumper the springs, and converted to alloy spacers, and used thin spring washers to take up the slack, What mounts do you refer to?, Mine used standard pedestals, IIRC I had to turn the bolt heads down for clearance of the arms,

More by luck than judgement I bought some titanium bolts and they are only 13mm heads and have plenty of clearance.

Solid lifters. I think eventually I will go this route. Do you have cut-outs in your pistons?

I hope the bolts are necked to allow for oilflow up to the rocker arms ??

Yep thought you would. I will probably leave my solid lifters and cam upgrade until I've put some nice forged pistons in.

I dont have the ally pedestals Ian. Its all steel stuff. The wear marks just look like the anodising has been cleaned off. They are not new items. And the have extra oil holes in them. I use later square covers with a spacer for clearance. But I dont like them because the dont have the MG logo on them :(

When i get the engine back together next week I'll be doing the tappets. Solid lifters fitted so what do i set the clearances at. I guess 30 thou all round will do eh?

Ok guys, now winging its way to me are a set of NASCAR Carrillo used 6 inch rods for my new build! :-) going to grind my 4.6 crank down and offset to 89mm at the 1.85 inch diameter as required! Have been discussing options with mike(kiwicar) who has been great with advice. BUT was wandering what piston options to go for??? Wrist pin is 0.86, and I can have a comp height of much above 1.2-1.22 inch. Think the ford modular 3.7 inch big bore flat top/shallow dish is my best bet but was wondering if anything else is about??? Perhaps a bit bigger then 94mm??? Cos use a Chevy but don't like be idea of drilling out the small end/ wrist pin hole to .927 or whatever - seems a big jump taking away a lot of metal. Any thoughts??? Ohhh by the way, rods and bearings 144 dollars.
Spent so much on trial and error!
