Crankshaft pulleys . . . .

Post by v8trev »

Are they interchangeable? What is the most compact for driving just an Alternator, Water Pump and Power Steering (Air Con not needed) ?

Many thanks

:)

I think that will depend on which timing cover you are using. serpentine are quite compact.

I think the most compact (shortest) front was the later GEMS serpentine pulley/cover/pump - obviously no dizy so you'd need an aftermarket ecu.

On my "Old style/Pre-GEMS" engine I use a P6 pulley which is quite short. I only drive the alternator and water pump (from same belt) so no secondary pulleys mounted fore/aft of the main one.

The mass damper is separate, mounted engine side of the pulley vs the GEMS type which is inline so the mass damper IS part of the pully so is more compact.

My P6 pulley also includes the damper, with no additional pulleys
