Bosch starter.

Post by DaveEFI »

Mate who doesn't do forums has a kit car with an RV8 engine and box from an SD1. Unlike the SD1, the exhaust on his car is well clear of the starter. The starter has failed, and Bosch ones (for later RV8) are cheaper than Lucas. But vendor says they can't be used on earlier engines. So is there a difference to the ring gear or whatever?

I don't think so. I've seen plenty of Rover starters in my time, and they all fit the same to the block / flywheel.

The only difference is fouling prop / exhaust.
