Does anyone know what the recommended ignition timing is for a Piper 270 cam fitted to a 3.5 engine, fitted with a 390 Holley, headers and MSD ignition?
Thanks in advance

Re: Ignition timing 3.5 with cam
I recently had mine rebuilt engine with the same cam set up on a dyno at 15 BTDC at 1000rpm tickover. And 32 BTDC at 4000rpm. Both without vacuum attached. Power at engine 201 BHP. This should give you a good start but without a dyno setup it will be difficult to know if optimum! Good luck!

Re: Ignition timing 3.5 with cam
I’m new to the forum and the 215. I’ve just started this week on an engine that I’ve identified as a’62 Buick (in a Rover!), with 10.25 compression block numbers, Holley 390, decent tuned headers, GM points distributor, but vacuum advance deleted, no timing mark pointer—I’ve just found TDC, and had intended to try to start it @ 14 degrees. Does that sound reasonable?
Thank you for any time/input.
