Spark plugs: How do you make sure you don't get fakes?

Post by GDCobra »

Hi all

Just looking at getting some new plugs, going for NGK, either BPR6ES or BPR6EIX but as I started searching on the Internet I found some comments about plugs being faked. Obviously, given the damage it's could do to an engine, I want to make sure I get the real deal. Can anybody offer any recommendations for where to buy/not buy?

Thanks in advance.

Dont buy from some dodgy chinese ebay site ?

Or just buy from a local motor factors ?

Are clones for plugs common ? Given how cheap most plugs are ( non precious metal types )....why would anyone even bother to fake them ?

Hi Stevie
Agree with what you say but.... don't really knos of any factors around here, obviously buying on line opens up a wider range of vendors just want to avoid dodgy ones. Don't know if there's a big problem with fakes at the cheaper end but I was thinking I may go down the Iridium route. Mind you its amazing what these dodgy characters will fake.

I've bought from the likes of Opie or sparkplugs.co.uk before...

And also locally and ebay. TBH most local places dont carry huge stocks otherwise I'd always buy that sort of thing locally....every time I ask they never have a set of 8. Screw them.
