The Discovery 2 V8 used the Thor - Bosch Motronics System.

We have our own engines in large Ford vehicles here and these cars did not use EDIS 8 - the only vehicle I can find that used Edis 8 here was the imported Mustang which was not a popular car here and virtually non were sold.

Smaller vehicles are rebadged from various parts to the world including Kia in Korea. The early Mondeo is the exception.

So I can fully develop options - does anyone know if the standard RV8 Coil Packs are compatible with MS3 with the drivers inbuilt. The risk is that I wreck the cam and lifters in getting MS 3 to work but maybe a small risk - not sure. But is an option and not use EDIS at all.

But you already have the EDIS 8 module?

EDIS 8 uses two EDIS 4 coils. Presumably you had the Ford Escort, etc?

The Thor used wasted spark too. It's likely those coils would be OK with an EDIS module driving them. But dunno for certain.

MS3 doesn't have internal high current drivers for passive coils like used on the Thor.
You'd need to add something like a QuadraSpark board.

MS3X does have outputs to drive logic level 'smart' coils - like LS1.

Yes I have the Edis 8 module - bought from the UK.

The last Escorts were sold here in about 1975. Our small Fords were asian sourced but had Brit names - eg our Ford Fiesta was a Kia, our Ford Corsair was a Nissan Pintara, our Ford Laser was a Mazda 323. Our Corsair was replaced by the first Mondeo which I did think did have Edis but they all went to the big scrap heap in the sky real quick because they were not good and did not sell.

Today our small medium Fords are UK cars but not back then.

Thanks for your input and willingness to help - as you can see I am looking at various options that will work here.

Cheers

The obvious one to me would be source the correct plug leads.
If they are very expensive custom made, it's not that difficult to make your own.

P38 Range Rovers have coils with the M4 type connector (late Ford version). Can you get them in Australia ?
