Just as an aside, if intending spending real money on a new dizzy etc, check the costs of going wasted spark with mapped ignition.

Thanks Dave, I like the idea of distributor-less systems, friends in the air cooled scene, got some great results using multiple coils and big Delorto carbs and I looked at it for my VW, but it was too expensive for what I was trying to achieve at the time.

Anyway, I'm probably wise to take one step a time for now as I get my head around the V8, but many thanks for the pointer.
