What to do with old TR7 / SD1 LT77 gearboxes?

Post by turbodave »

I've got Four LT77s - The first two gearboxes have the "CL" code (TR7). The third is a 19A unit, and a fourth that doesn't have the boss on the side, so I guess that makes it one of the earliest.

Are these all pretty much worthless?

Would I be best just dismantling them and selling off gears / synchros on fleabay, or just weigh the lot in?

I'm stateside, so that obviously limits their appeal, but I can easily ship a lot of weight in “flat rate boxes” all over the world.

I am presuming you don't have any bellhousings with them?

Dave, I have a TR7 CL box behind a 4,6 engine. Still going strong after 20 years of abuse. I have a spare R380 (rebuilt) waiting for the LT77 to fail but has not happened yet. They are decent boxes even if they are supposed to be weak variants.

You could advertise them on British V8 forum, someone might be interested in them.

Any luck with the steering rack ?
