Where do I get a LT77 box

Post by Dixie6789 »

I want change by gearbox, it's on its way out.
I spoke to Dave at Ashcroft transmissions and he informs me he can't get them anymore.
My box is a very early one serial no 17A30801B, but is attached to a 4.6, and is showing signs of distress.

Would like to get a LT77 H box.

Does anyone know anybody.

Dave old me that parts are difficult to find for this early box.

Thanks for any help.

Mark.

Did he not offer you an R380 box which is the replacement for the Lt and a better box still a direct swap though. They maybe aren't available now either. The LT is a really old box now and your looking for a barn find, back of someone's shed type deal.

Sadly he can't offer a R 380 either!
Might try and find a local gearbox place and rebuild mine.
Sad thing is it has perfect ratios for my car, and really want to keep it.

LT77

I have found and brought a refurbished T5 with a RV8 bell housing, release bearing, clutch fork etc.

Seems like a fairly straight forward install. I need a new spigot bearing, and my 23 spline clutch plate fits. Got to shorten the prop by 110mm.

However, I don't know if I can be arsed to do it now. Might simply try and find a good LT and put in and move the Cobra on to another home.
