Ok, would a rover sd1 v8 lt77 gearbox in good condition cope with a tuned 5 litre v8 engine, if fitted with mcleod twin plate clutch flywheel etc?

It wouldn't be my first choice but I ran one behind a blown 4.2 in a Classic Range Rover for a few years.

By the time I pulled the box 3rd gear was pretty useless but the box was still intact.

An R380 would be better.

Sounds strange I know but not my cup of tea, so eventually going to get a t5.

Might depend on the weight of the car? They don't survive well on SD1 with bigger engines.

My LT77 in my P6 didn't last long with just the 3.5 and a warm cam.
